If someone asked me where to buy a quality hat, I probably wouldn’t start by telling them to buy one from me.

I’d tell them what to look for first.

There are a lot of hats out there. Some are built to last, and some are made to be replaced after a season. On the surface they can look pretty similar, but once you’ve spent enough time making hats, you start noticing the little things that separate a good hat from a great one.

For me, it starts with quality.

I want a hat that keeps its shape, feels comfortable every time I put it on, and looks just as good months down the road as it did the day I bought it.

That’s the standard I try to build every hat around at Laser Tailored.

A Hat Should Be Made to Be Worn

I don’t believe hats are meant to sit on a shelf.

They’re meant to go with you.

To work.

To the lake.

To the ball field.

On road trips.

Wherever life takes you.

That’s why I spend extra time making sure every leather patch is engraved, cut, and sewn with care. It takes longer than the fastest method, but I’ve learned that doing things the right way usually does.

Small Details Matter

One thing I’ve learned since starting Laser Tailored is that people notice the details.

The stitching.

The fit.

The way the leather ages over time.

The way a hat still looks good after wearing it week after week.

Those are the things that make someone reach for the same hat every morning.

Why I Started Laser Tailored

When I started making hats in my garage, I wasn’t trying to become the biggest hat company around.

I just wanted to make something I’d be proud to wear myself.

That mindset hasn’t changed.

Every hat that leaves my shop is one I’d gladly put on my own head.

If it doesn’t meet that standard, it doesn’t leave the shop.
