When I first started Laser Tailored, every patch I made was heat-pressed onto the hat. It looks good, but as the business grew, I wanted my products to last even longer. That’s what pushed me to invest in a sewing machine and start gluing and stitching almost all of my patches for maximum durability.

Today, over 95% of my hats are sewn — and for good reason.

But heat-pressed patches still have their place, and both options serve a different purpose. I want to break down the difference so you can choose what’s best for you.

Sewn-On Patch Hats (Premium Durability)

Sewn patches are the gold standard here at Laser Tailored. These hats are built to last and hold up through daily wear.

Benefits of sewn-on patches:

If you want the highest level of durability and longevity, a sewn patch hat is the best choice.

Heat-Pressed / Glued Patch Hats (Style + Affordability)

Not every patch is meant to be sewn. Some designs — especially women’s styles, fun shapes, colorful cutouts, and fashion-forward patches — simply look better when they’re pressed on.

These hats allow me to offer more variety, more creativity, and a lower price point without cutting corners.

Benefits of heat-pressed patches:

• Great for trendy, seasonal, or colorful designs
• Allows for unique cutout shapes that can’t be sewn cleanly
• Faster production = lower price
• Perfect for casual or occasional wear

It really depends on what you’re looking for:
